Philosophy

I believe in a world where business is a force for good. But, a lot of good ideas that the world really needs are dying at organizations stuck in the quicksand between strategy and execution.

I envision a world where organizations are designed differently right from the start. The foundation for my approach to startup operations is a view that a successful business is fundamentally about delivering value and that our means of delivering value is the people in our company.

People - in relationships - are the heartbeat of your organization and there are two types of relationships we need to pay attention to:

• Relationships with each other (Human Chemistry)

• Relationships with systems and supports (Interactions & Environment)

I call this value chemistry.

What we’ll do:

Successful startup operations balances Momentum and Maturity with the current context. Momentum is how people are working together and why they do the work.

We’ll strive for incremental wins because people like to win and once they do, they will keep winning.

Alongside of this Momentum we’ll quietly cultivate organizational capabilities that prepare us for each next win. This way as the big wins arrive, your systems, and people, are ready to handle them.

Building Value Chemistry

    Form

If you are just starting your business, this pathway is for you.

We’ll take a close look at your idea and make sure it is valuable; then define the business model that surrounds it.

We’ll assemble your Business Biochemistry and design your organization.

You’ll leave with an organization that is Centered Around Value.

Once you are centered around value we can start building your value delivery system.

We’ll start with mapping your value delivery pathway. You’ll build your prototype and test the pathway is valid.

We’ll bring in your first revenue and prove your business model.

You’ll exit this stage with a business that’s ready for serious investment.

  • Image shows energy from people evoking the concept of self-sustaining chemistry

    Fuel

As funding grows, momentum snowballs, and you’ll need to cultivate value delivery maturity.

We’ll look at how you manage your value delivery system, how you make it reliable and repeatable, and how we ensure it grows and scales to balance your momentum.

You’ll exit this stage with a need to add business layers that organize and enable value delivery and a true understanding of what “operations” will look like for your future.
